Stephen T. Wood, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Stephen Wood has been in the practice of general surgery at Fayetteville Surgical Associates since 1993. He is presently on the active staff at Washington Regional Medical Center and North Hills Surgery Center.
Dr. Wood was born in Seminole, Oklahoma. He attended high school in Fayetteville. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville and his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He completed his internship and surgical residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, Tulsa.
Dr. Wood’s practice includes diagnosis and treatment of surgical disorders and cancer of the breast, thyroid, skin and soft tissues, pancreas, liver, stomach, colon and rectum. He offers minimally invasive, laparoscopic surgery for gallbladder disease, GI tract disorders, gastroespohageal refulx, hernia repair and splenectomy. He has special interest in bariatric surgery. Colonoscopy and Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) are an established part of his practice. Reconstruction for decubitus ulcer defects, vascular access for dialysis and oncology, sentinel lymph node mapping and biopsy for breast cancer and melanoma, and surgical treatment of ulcerative colitis are among additional specialized areas of service.
Dr. Wood has served as Chief of General Surgery and participates as a member of the hospital Emergency Department Trauma Steering Committee.
Dr. Wood is certified by the American Board of Surgery, is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is a member of the American Medical Association, Arkansas Medical Society, and the Washington County Medical Society, and the Frank A. Clingan Surgical Society.
